This is Paektu-san, Koreas highest and most sacred peak. This is an oil painting of it looking at it from inside North Korea on the plateau. A big canvas, it took some time to get it to this. My first sessions were basically brushing paint on and on it to get the skeleton and run of the land, adding layers of colour as I went. Painting it; as they say - apply it with a brush. Then, just before it got too finicky, I attack it while wet with big brush strokes using different colours to get the lines and shape back. It's for sale.
